Daily Prompt: Toot Your Horn
Most of us are excellent at being self-deprecating, and are not so good at the opposite. Tell us your favorite thing about yourself.
I don’t trust easily but for some reason I give my love away very easily. Despite the idea that time and again I may end up the only one left standing I continually take the risk to love. If there is anything I know about life it’s that it isn’t worth living without loving and it takes risking heartache to find love returned. My favorite thing about myself…my ability to love despite the firing squad I may end up in front of.
I willingly walk into fire
Looking for you
Needing to feel the heat
That burns in you
But the heat turns cold
Under a landslide of snow
And all that is left
Is a blank white slate
And me left alone

thanks for the link! cool blog, awesome post.
I felt that heat. I did. But in the end, it only left me cold. And more alone. I’m lost. Sad…
You are so right my dear. I will heal. I’m better everyday. The sadness has lessened but it’s still there. A scar will form and I’ll move on. We are our scars, aren’t we?
Thanks, I will do just that.
liked this a lot – a story we all know well…
but that blanket of snow that freezes us for a while, numbs the pain and gives us a blank new page to dance our lives on!
PS thanks for helping me with categories – I had been looking for 12 days, all the tutorials showed me things I’d already worked out how to do!

I like the image of the “landslide of snow” leading to a “blank white slate”. It suggests the possibility of starting over. One might be momentarily winded, but one hasn’t been stopped entirely.
