I have a problem seeing myself for who I am. What I mean is that many times (most) I strive to be a really good friend. I used to be the person that encouraged others to live to the fullest, to love with everything they had, to live smart without regret. I USED to be that person.

For the last year though I have been the one needing that person. It was time I found people who didn’t mind listening, in fact with my anxiety and the level my OCD had reached I needed some very strong people who didn’t just say suck it up it’s life. And I did…several of them in fact. Who knew that those people I loved actually loved me back? When I looked through their eyes I felt like they saw ME as a sad, needy, weak, attention seeking individual looking for someone to save me.

Good news is that I am finally starting to feel like my old positive, strong, loving self….it feels really good. Part of this process is to fix the image in my head of what I think others see. I was given the assignment to find a creative way to see myself through other peoples eyes. I decided to ask my friends to pick a song that either reminded them of me or portrayed me in the words. I put these songs in order of the responses I received. I am terrible with relating music to people but I was surprised how many people had quick responses. I love all of these songs and many of them actually make me cry…either because they are so true and I really relate….or because they see me differently than I thought they did. I hope you enjoy my life through other people’s eyes.

I’ve been there. There is nothing better than waking up in the morning, feeling like you should get out of bed and live your life like you want without the constant thought of who might not like what. It’s raining now, which means I am taking the wet train home and taking a dive through the swimming pool. That, for me, is ecstasy! Hope you feel better and better sooner and sooner . . .

I can’t see the songs they chose, but I will say this – it’s always uplifting being able to see yourself through other’s eyes. They will always see the positive in you, even when you can only see the negative. Feed off of their energy – they are able to see us without the veil we try to cover ourselves with.
