Daily Prompt: Silver Screen
Take a quote from your favorite movie — there’s the title of your post. Now, write!
There is no way I can actually pick a favorite movie and therefore no way I can pick a favorite quote but the film that came to mind first was The Notebook. This movie has so many amazing quotes to inspire the romantic spark in everybody. LOL get it? Sparks? Nicholas Sparks? Anyway, the above title is a good quote and here are a few more I love from the same movie.
“I love you. I am who I am because of you. You are every reason, every hope, and every dream I’ve ever had, and no matter what happens to us in the future, everyday we are together is the greatest day of my life. I will always be yours. ”
“We fell in love, despite our differences, and once we did, something rare and beautiful was created. For me, love like that has only happened once, and that’s why every minute we spent together has been seared in my memory. I’ll never forget a single moment of it.”
“You are, and always have been, my dream.”
“My daddy said, that the first time you fall in love, it changes you forever and no matter how hard you try, that feeling just never goes away.”
And finally this is the quote that inspired my poem:
“Dusk is just an illusion because the sun is either above the horizon or below it. And that means that day and night are linked in a way that few things are there cannot be one without the other yet they cannot exist at the same time. How would it feel I remember wondering to be always together yet forever apart?”
I grew up holding your hand
Skipping along the beach front
Along warm morning sand
We laughed at the world
At the silly friendship we had
Me in my endless sundresses
And my giant floppy hats
You in rolled up jeans
And skin tight V-neck Tees
Each summer we met
Exactly the same way
Me on the pier gazing at the sea
You sneaking up with devilish plans
You grab my hand and we jump
Neither of us a care in the world
Each of us content completely carefree
And so it went each year the same
The laughter, the smiles
Each year our fondness grew
And I knew I was in love with you
One summer we shared our first kiss
Then last summer we . . .
I went home pregnant that year
Didn’t tell anyone it was you my dear
I didn’t tell my parents out of fear
That I would never again visit our pier
Summer came again, I waited for you
But God had different plans instead
He must have known last summer
Would be our last spent together
And although your life was tragically taken
I stand on this pier looking out at the waves
Holding on to the future of us
The baby with your eyes and your smile
The child that will one day play in the sand
With another little girl with silly floppy hats
With a hand just the right size to fit his own
Someday they will jump into the subtle waves
Content with their own destiny
