A CONNECTED LIFE

She sat in the middle of a tree

Looking down on the world

The people passing by

She saw their addictions

One by one on parade

Obliviously  part of a crowd

Surprisingly unfocused

Peacefully contained in turmoil

Participants marching in distraction

Each soul lost inside their head

Seeking connections

Not from those standing near

But from those disconnected

In a universe online out there

Funny, how they are heading somewhere

Concentrating not on footsteps

But nonexistent bridges

In a landscape of emotions

To the edge of a cliff

Designed to destroy

Life fighting within

Life turned virtual

Disengaged from our state of being

She sat in the middle of a tree

Looking down on the world

Afraid to come down

To get lost in this spectacle

Celebrating an unplugged life
