ABOUT ME

You can also follow my blog with Bloglovin

I am an anxiety driven over-analyzer.  With a mind full of rainbows and devils, I began giving my thoughts a way out of my head by starting this blog.  Writing poetry helps me gain perspective and purge my soul by putting my tears and laughter into words!

Writing began as therapy for my depression and poetry, specifically, was a way to get an active and anxious mind to focus.  Describing my emotions with as few words as possible is a calming meditation that has lead to this successful blog and two poetry books.

When I am not writing I enjoy giving other blogger’s a voice here. We all have a voice and it makes me happy when people use it. This blog and the people who reside within its domain are all a part of me… I hope you find something you can relate to and I hope you stay and join in some conversation.

I am a full time oil and gas accountant, wife, and mom who not only enjoys writing but loves art night with her daughter.  I now have my own online art gallery where I sell prints and photo rights.

I am the author of two poetry books that can be found on Amazon.

Darker Side of Night  is modern day poetry from the shadowy corners of an overactive imagination. Whether we embrace the night or we fear it, one thing is for certain: almost anything can be hiding in the dark. Take a peek at what is hiding in wait.

Depression’s Dance is about Hasty’s dance with depression complete with the moments of desperation as well as the moments of hope.  Depression has a way of sneaking into your life and before you know it you are caught in a dance you can’t cut away from.

Forever Flawed

by: HastyWords, December 2012

I look in the mirror, at reflections

Staring into eyes, looking into eyes

Searching for something, anything

The source for why this image cries

I lay in my breath, holding onto it

Seeking the air, questioning the air

Needing new breath, new life

The staleness of my own I cannot bare

I rest my hand on my heart, and cry

It sings to a restless depressing beat

I sit and listen to its story unfold

I try to understand the rhythm it speaks

I search my brain, get lost in thoughts

Over-analyze, over-think, beliefs in my head

My very worst quality, the life in my mind

The best I can do is tuck the truth in and put it to bed

  1. Love your “about” and your poem. I also relate, as I know many others do, to what we call in recovery “The paralysis of analysis.” (Our own attempt at poetry, I suppose.) I tell people that all my life I’ve been told I think too much, and I’ve given that a lot of thought. 🙂 Have a great, relatively ‘free-thinking’ (as opposed to thoughtless) day!

  2. Hasty, you dropped by my blog by accident did you, i mean nothing drove you towards me?

Reason being the gift of writing poetry, which you has influenced my life, has now able me to become more focused or lets say more directed…

However does not seem like an addiction the writing of poetry, not so much as the finish product but the process of get there?

A cool bonus is that my spelling may have just improved a little…

All the best to you and family, may you all find those enjoyable blessings…

  3. I saw your post about Logan and your ordeal with the school, then I saw Logan’s post on autism and was so moved I had to come see your “About.” You’re an amazing mom to have raised such a loving, insightful, and forgiving young man.

  4. I’m just going to say, Happy Birthday… I know I missed it, I even miss my big brother’s 50th back in January, and then this last week just gone, another younger brother had a close call. Never knew bicycles having head on’s with one another could be so dangerous. But this your about page. When you say tuck in towards the end, I read it as truck, like as in terms of filming, one trucks in and out for perspective, and that’s what you do. Give perspective at varying distance, while never being static. Tilting is your other filmic asset; continually you’ve tilted your blog/s and other ventures at different and differing angles, some in such cinematic ways and others at a grass roots and dirt earth fashion.

Covers and cover modeling, well attuned to a woven tale you’ve become, an interrupter to imaginations in fiction, and documentary in real world occurrences. A transformation you’ve developed and evolved into with clarity.

Forever Flawed, forever turning, tilting, trucking to catch the light and shadows as and where they animate one another. Whether when you rest, walk, or run, your lungs never forget to breath and your heart never forgets to beat, even when a day, night seems like a stranger and a cold front’s fog drops, you still know where your feet are, even when your brain pauses in another world on an inside out to a different page… It’s all still part to your incredible continuing book..
